About the event

Not only does composting keep food waste from going to the landfill, compost is the ideal fuel for growing healthy, nutritious, and subsequently delicious food. Not only does it feed your plants, it also helps foster a rich microbial environment for your garden. Soil microbes help create soil structure that helps water, air, and nutrients reach the roots of your plants. They also help break down minerals and other soil components, making more vital nutrients available to your plants. Becky Bravinder and Teresa Harmala will be teaching this class on composting basics and also vermi-composting, or composting with worms.

No-till gardening has many benefits as well. Tilling actually destroys soil structure and leads to greater soil compaction. This is not an ideal environment for your plants. Join us on the 29th to learn more about the benefits and techniques of no-till gardening.
