Olena Johnson will teach some of the basics of mushroom foraging, including safety, how to ID common beginner mushrooms, where to look for specific kinds of mushrooms, and more! This event will include a 45 minute classroom portion and a 2 hour exploratory hike. $10/adult, $5/kids under 10.

About the event
Olena Johnson, aka "The Mushroom Lady," has been foraging for mushrooms since she was a kid, and now she’s excited to share her knowledge with the general public. Whether you’re just curious or looking to get into mushroom foraging yourself, this event is a great place to start.
During a 45-minute classroom-style session, Olena will cover the essentials—how to safely identify mushrooms, where and when to look for different kinds, and tips for spotting ones that are great for beginners. You’ll also learn how to forage responsibly and avoid common mistakes (like picking something you really shouldn't!).
After the classroom portion, we’ll head outside for a two-hour hike through Carl Johnson Park (aka Wright County Park Forest Trail), where we’ll explore mushroom habitats and hopefully find some specimens to identify together.
